Oktopod News

Been a long time since we’ve had a news and general happenings update around here, so let’s take a little stroll down through all things Oktopod.

  • First up (and most excitingly, if you ask me), Ted Boone’s The Ghost, the Girl, and the Gun is now available as an audiostory! If you’re looking for an excellent way to fill a half-hour this weekend, you can download it here, or listen to it here courtesy of Podbean.
  • Talking about The Ghost, the Girl, and the Gun, it’s now been downloaded roughly 2,700 times, and has moved up to the #2 spot in Feedbook’s New & Popular list! Way to go, Ted!
  • Next, we’ve got some early numbers for Stars Rain Down. After nearly three weeks, our first full-length novel release has been bought 24 times, and downloaded over 1,700 times.
  • The first customer reviews of Stars Rain Down are just starting to pop up at Amazon, and so far, we’ve got a couple 5-star reviews, and a single 2-star review. Take a look at what people are saying here, and let us know who’s right.
  • You may have noticed a small price hike for Stars Rain Down over at Smashwords. This was done to ensure that none of their affiliates undercut Amazon’s price (which happens all too frequently), and we apologize for any inconvenience. If you’d like to purchase a copy at Smashwords, please use this coupon code for the original $2.99 price: ZC66Z
  • Oktopod is expanding our Facebook presence. Be sure to like our main Facebook page, and the new pages for The Ghost, the Girl, and the Gun, and Stars Rain Down. As a special offer, every person who likes these pages in the next two days will be entered in a drawing to win absolutely nothing at all! (It was all I could afford.)
  • As for this here Oktopod Blog, we are currently enjoying a record week in traffic thanks to some key links at the Mobileread forums and Susan Crealock’s wonderful Online Novels blog. Thank you so much for the link, Susan, and we hope all you new readers out there enjoy our work!

That’s pretty much it for today, fellow cephalopods. We hope to have a few more announcements in the coming weeks, so hang tight in the meantime and be sure to pass us around to all your friends!

Hey Chris, I just stumbled upon Stars Rain Down through Stanza about a week ago and couldn’t put it down. Great read! Definitely looking forward to the next installment to the saga cus theres a ton of questions I need answering. lol.

Im not one to spend a dime on something if I can get it for free but I’ll be purchasing a copy of Stars on Amazon. Keep up the good work!

    • Thank you so much, Aby! I’m still starting out so both the comment and the sale really mean a lot to me, and I appreciate you taking the time to stop by. 🙂

If it’s not too much to ask, I could always use help spreading the word; I’m my own publicist right now, and my publicist honestly kind of sucks. It would also be nice to have a few more in-depth reviews at Amazon, but I understand that not everyone’s comfortable writing reviews.

Anyway, thanks again, and I’m really glad you liked Stars Rain Down.

I definitely hear where you’re coming from. I’m sure its gotta be tough to market your own stuff. I made a post regarding Stars on a gaming site that I’ve been a member of for several years and also put up a review for the book on Amazon. I’m down for anything I can do to help spread the word.

Believe it or not, I’m actually a wannabe writer myself in my spare time (with no discernible writing skills whatsoever) and seeing a successful self publication like Stars gives me an incentive to hone my writing skills and get my work out there.
