First Sale of the Year!
After a bit of oddness and waiting with Amazon, I’m happy to announce that we’re (read: I’m) having our first sale of the year. What exactly is available? Absolutely stonking everything, thanks for asking.
Head on over to my author page at Amazon, and you should find five titles all free for the taking. If you don’t find that, either I’ve broken the hyperlink or Amazon is having some kind of problem. Both have been known to happen.
Be sure to tell your sister, tell your friends, and tell that weird guy at the gas station who always stares at your kneecaps with lusty eyes. Of course, this sale can’t come at a better time, as my sales have been slowly circling the toilet since the start of the year. With a little luck, this will make me a little more visible again.
Stars Rain Down will also be dropping back down to it’s earlier, more sane price once the sale is over. While I’ve got you here, I’d like to take a moment to thank the kind soul who bought a copy for 10 bones. Thank you! If I ever run into you on the street, I’ll buy you a beer. One that’s worth less than $7 (my inner businessman informs me), but a beer nonetheless.
Also, I’ll be launching a new running column called Odds Without Ends right here at the Oktopod Blog. That should be starting around Wednesday of next week, so stay tuned!
Cheers, and have a great weekend!
~Chris

What? There’s More?!
In honor of the giant, jagged freaking stones currently crawling through my nether-anatomy, we’re having another sale! Starting at midnight tonight and running through Saturday, you can head on over to Amazon and grab a free copy of Stars Rain Down! Take one. Take two. Send one to a friend. Send another to an enemy. Send it to dozens of sherpas in Tibet!
Seriously… just download a copy. I’m hurtin’ over here.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to go hydrate and cry in the bathroom (not really[but yeah]).

Update: I’m Not Dead!
Been awfully quiet around these parts, hasn’t it? I know you’ve all been absolutely petrified with worry, but I have great news: I’m okay! Sorry for dropping off the face of the Earth for a while, but between a heavy dose of frustration, some meandering background projects, and a pair of kidney stones the sizes of Deimos and Phobos, I somehow forgot I should be here smiling and wishing y’all a howdy-doo.
So, in order to get the chitting and chatting back a’-rolling, I thought maybe I’d reprint a post I made over at io9 a few months back, in response to an article there about the handful of successful self-published authors that everybody hears about over and over again, ad nauseam. I thought the readers there might be interested in hearing what the experience was like for someone who ranks a teeny bit lower on the sales charts.
And now, I figured you lords and ladies might also be interested in the same. Read on for the harrowing account of how I tapped violently at keyboards and eventually sold a few books…

Free Promotion — Stars Rain Down
That’s right! Stars Rain Down is once again free through the Amazon Kindle store! You have until 11:59PM PDT tonight, Tuesday the 24th to grab a copy. When will it come up for sale again? I’m aiming to be a bit more cunning with these promotions, and will be hosting a free day every three weeks, so if you miss this one, you only have to wait until half-way through May. If you miss that one, you could always pester someone who already has a copy.
Download a copy! Tell a friend! Eat something delicious and take a nap!

Release Announcement — Arcana Universalis: Danse Macabre
Good afternoon! How ya doing? Good? Great!
After more waiting than I ever expected, I’m very excited to announce the latest chapter in Caleb Gedley’s ongoing adventures… Arcana Universalis: Danse Macabre
As regulars around here know, I’ve had a few setbacks over the past few months which resulted in this piece taking much (much, much) longer than I ever would have guessed. The good news, though, is that it’s finally out and ready for your consumption.
What exactly will you find in this episode?
Read on to find out…
Inbound — Arcana Universalis: Danse Macabre
It’s finally time for an announcement! The second novella-length episode of Arcana Universalis (subtitled Danse Macabre) is finished; it’s over 23,000 words (as compared to 15,000 for Terminus), and will be released this Thursday, March 29th. This comes only 9 short months after the last part, so I’d fully understand if you’re concerned about me rushing myself. “How could a mortal man possibly write so quickly?” you’re no doubt asking yourself right this instant. “Wouldn’t his fingers bleed, or perhaps spontaneously combust!?”
And the answer is: Yes, my fingers absolutely did both. They bled and spontaneously combusted… one then the other, really. There were charred fingernails and bits of bone everywhere. Terrible mess. Now I’m typing with the assistance of some very expensive (and dangerous!) cyborg fingers which allow me to write so fast that plot twists often take even me by surprise. While reading this startling new installment, several of you shall surely faint, or worse, simply perish from the shock.
But we must press forth. Our commitment to story demands it.
This is precisely why I’m giving you a few days warning, to steel yourselves and make sure your earthly affairs are in order. In the meantime, take a gander at the cover art below, which will give you some small taste of the horrors in store.

See you all on Thursday!
