Announcement time, ladies and gents. I’ve started work on a new novel, and it’s called…
You may have noticed a few peculiarities, right there… other than the content of the image, I mean. The faintly ludicrous title, the slightly altered byline, the YA tag in the corner. Yup, that’s right! I’m working on a Young Adult story called Earthian (on purpose!), and I hope to have it finished in the next two months.

This is a story I’ve been meddling with and nurturing since sometime in 2009. I’d originally planned to work on it after the first Vengar adventure, in order to deliver a sort of pulp action double-whammy, but I eventually decided to press forward with releasing Stars Rain Down instead. I still think that was the right decision. Earthian wasn’t ready for prime time just yet.
But now, it’s getting there.
So… what the heck is Earthian?
In the very near future, our planet is visited by a childlike and friendly race of aliens called the Seelio, who then recruit a group of teenagers from across the globe to work as galactic peacekeepers. The Seelio call these brave adventurers Earthians. Given spacesuits that allow them to travel between planets (without a ship), the Earthians head off into a strange universe to solve mysteries and right wrongs… while their missions are broadcast back home in the form of a reality TV show.
The story is told by one of the six Earthians, Jason Yun, who recounts his experiences journeying to weird and distant worlds… and the terrible secrets he uncovers there.
Amped up? I am! 🙂
I’m aiming to produce something fun and exciting for a wide range of ages, with a tone half-way between Tom Swift and Buck Rogers… with maybe a smidgen of Douglas Adams thrown in for good measure. I’m only around 2,000 words in though, so I’m still working at that part. It’ll get there, though.
You also likely noticed that there’s a cover, which seems a little odd for a book I’m just starting to write. Yup, it’s odd… and I’ll be telling you more about it in a separate post coming up later this week.
Anyway, I hope to start presenting chapters to y’all serially in the next two weeks, so stay tuned!

Well, I like your description, certainly :). It sounds like a fairly whimsical concept from what you’ve said here, so I can’t help but wonder what kind of terrible secrets you have in mind.

Thanks! Whimsical is definitely what I’m trying for, with secrets that are a PG-13 sort of terrible (just to clarify). Anyway, I really appreciate the encouragement, and I hope to have something to show ya soon.
